Navigating an ADHD assessment can be daunting for parents. At PrimaHealth, we’ve designed a structured, 3-stage ADHD assessment and diagnosis pathway to ensure clarity and personalised care for every child. Here’s an overview of what you can expect.
Stage 1: Screening The process begins with a referral from your GP, who will provide an initial medical check. After the referral:
- Phone Consultation: A Care Coordinator (Assistant Psychologist) will conduct a phone consultation to discuss your child’s symptoms and ensure suitability for our services.
- Payment Processed: Once suitability is confirmed, the payment is processed, and the next steps are scheduled.
- Questionnaire Completion: Comprehensive feedback is collected from parents, teachers, and the child using behavioural rating scales and detailed questionnaires.
Stage 2: Assessment & Diagnosis Our multidisciplinary team conducts three clinical consultations to ensure a thorough evaluation:
- First Consultation: An initial clinical intake session with our specialists.
- Second Consultation: A follow-up assessment to delve deeper into your child’s needs.
- Final Consultation: A psychiatric evaluation to confirm or rule out an ADHD diagnosis.
If necessary, additional assessments for co-occurring conditions, such as autism or dyspraxia, can be arranged.
Stage 3: Intervention Plan & Report Post-assessment, our team develops a tailored aftercare plan:
- Multidisciplinary Review: Our team collaborates to create a personalised intervention strategy.
- Comprehensive Report: A detailed report outlining the diagnosis and recommendations is shared with parents and the referring GP.
- Parent Consultation: A follow-up session to discuss the report and aftercare options, including therapy or medication if needed.
